largemouth bass against reeds

Out of the Fresh Water fish species that anglers tend to gravitate towards, bass tend to be a favorite. While they may not be the largest of fresh water fish species, they do offer up a pretty impressive fight and they’re good eatin’! There are a fair number of different species of bass found throughout the United States. The most popular, of course, being the Largemouth Bass (Micropterus salmoides). However, others to be considered are: Red-eye Bass (Micropterus coosae), Smallmouth Bass (Micropterus dolomieu), Spotted Bass (Micropterus punctulatus), and the Shoal Bass (Micropterus cataractae) to name but a few. There are currently 14 species recognized in the genus Micropterus.  The great thing about Bass fishing is that it is available to most people pretty much anywhere. This species is favorited by so many, it has prompted Bass fishing tournaments in its honor across the United States.
